Original ideas & wonderful dry humor, played to a Latin beat.

Chasin' Rainbows, R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders

He's not only a cartoonist; he plays 1920s American music with gusto.

Texas Music, Vol 2: Western Swing & Honky Tonk, various

A really great collection, including Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, Lefty Frizzell, Floyd Tillman, and Asleep at the Wheel.

Jesus: The Missing Years, John Prine

OUT standing: funny, wise, thoughtful. The title song is great, but the one I look forward to is "It's a Big Old Goofy World."

The Unclaimed Pint, Sally Rogers

My favorite song is "The Touch of the Master's Hand."

Papa Blues, Papa John Creach

I find myself hoping a song from this one will come up on the shuffle player.

And then there are performers whose whole work I approve of. Zappa. Kinky Friedman. The Beatles. Steely Dan. Louis Armstrong. Ataulfo Alves. Professor Longhair. Piaf. Seeger.
